Howard is a true eastern North Carolinian, growing up in Columbia, NC. He attended ECU and graduated with a BS Professional degree in Biology. He stayed in his field of study and soon thereafter, entered the healthcare field by joined Pfizer, the world’s largest pharmaceutical company. Howard had a very successful career spanning 33.5 years in 7 positions in 7 locations. His last ten years with Pfizer, Howard coordinated Pfizer’s business relationship with the State government of North Carolina - the Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Public Health, the State Health Plan, Medicaid, the Highway Patrol and others.
Howard won many Awards with Pfizer, but is most proud of the work he has done for which he was recognized by his business partners, culminating with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award – by the Governor Bev Perdue. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is presented to individuals who have a proven record of extraordinary service to the state. Howard was presented this by the NC Highway Patrol for his efforts in designing and implementing the Patrol’s “Active for Duty” Health & Wellness Initiative.
Howard began his second career in the mortgage business in May 2009, working with his friend Bob Walker as VP of Market Development for Carolina State Mortgage. CSM became part of OBX Bank Mortgage in June 2010. Howard and Bob Walker work as a team, providing a high level of service and commitment to our customers and thoroughly enjoy helping people become proud home owners on the Outer Banks.

Howard is actively involved with the ECU Pirate Club and attends many ECU games and events. He is an avid snow skier by winter, golfer year round and has run the OBX ½ marathon each year.
Howard and his wife Lyn now live in Village of Nags Head while maintaining a residence in Raleigh.
